The news for Florida and Orlando tourism just keeps getting better and better, with a hat-trick of record visitor numbers.

First, there came news, that Florida visitor numbers had hit a record high of 97.3million in 2014, the fourth year in a row that a new high had been reached.

Then, it was announced that Orlando had attracted more than 62million tourists from around the world in 2014, overtaking New York to be the number one US visitor destination.

Now, Florida's tourism industry set a new, first-quarter record, welcoming an estimated 28.4million visitors, up 6.2% year-on-year, according to figures from tourism authority, Visit Florida. The previous headline figure was 26.7million.

Governor Rick Scott says the total puts Florida on the way to hitting the 100million mark by the end of 2015.

The figures include 2.9million overseas visitors from January-March, up 7.1% on the same period a year ago, and 1.7million Canadian arrivals, up 1.2% annually thanks to a brutal Northern winter. Both totals are record highs.

There were 22.8million United States visitors to Florida in the three months, a yearly rise of 6.5%.

The growing demand for Florida real estate from US and overseas buyers reflects the rise in tourism, with visitors enjoying the warm weather, world-famous theme parks , stores and sports so much that they want to buy property and send more time in Central Florida, says top Orlando developer and agent, Feltrim Group.

Chief Executive Officer, Garrett Kenny, says, “Orlando’s real estate figures echo the tourism numbers, with sales and prices both continuing to surge ahead.

“We see a mixture of families wanting to be near Disney, Universal and Legoland theme parks, older people wanting to retire to a place where they can be guaranteed warmer weather and investors from at home and overseas looking to rent out their property or make capital gains.

“They appreciate the fact that Feltrim resorts feature top-class leisure, sports and entertainment facilities and that our developments are within easy reach of Orlando, which means they can relax on site or enjoy all the city has to offer.

“Canadians certainly figure highly among foreign visitors, with demand from Latin America and the UK and Ireland also particularly strong.”
