Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is investing nearly £5.5m in the local community as part of its new homes development at Wellington Park in Waterlooville, Hampshire.

Phases 1 to 4 of the development are bringing a total of 481 much-needed new homes to the local area, including 40% affordable homes for rent, shared ownership and low-cost housing, giving local residents and key workers the opportunity to enjoy life in a brand new property within their own community.

Taylor Wimpey is also planning to build a further 103 new homes which will comprise phase 5 at Wellington Park. This has received a resolution to grant planning permission from Winchester City Council.

The housebuilder has already made financial contributions of almost £1.9m under the Section 106 agreement for Wellington Park, with further payments to bring the total to just under £5.5m as the development progresses and new homes are occupied.

Payments made so far have gone towards a school travel plan, community development, bus services, off-site highways provision, improvements to Hambledon Parade, resident travel plans and household waste recycling, as well as community centre, youth provision and leisure centre contributions.

The housebuilder will be making additional payments in relation to several of those areas, as well as contributing to cemetery provision, green links, allotments, education, play areas, the maintenance of sport and youth facilities and the adoption of surface water ponds.

David Brown, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “This investment reflects our belief that building new homes is about more than just providing high-quality properties for people to live in – it is about giving homebuyers the chance to be part of a thriving and sustainable community.

“Our contributions totalling nearly £5.5m towards improving facilities, services and infrastructure will benefit not only our customers at Wellington Park, but also existing residents of Waterlooville. This is part of Taylor Wimpey’s ongoing commitment to the future of the communities where we build.”

There’s a superb selection of new homes currently available at Wellington Park, including two-bedroom coach house apartments from £193,000 and four-bedroom houses from £280,000.
