Taylor Wimpey submits a planning application for new homes development in Westbury

30th July 2015 Print

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application for a new residential development in Westbury, Wiltshire.

The outline application has been formally lodged with Wiltshire Council and seeks permission to construct approximately 145 homes together with public open space and a community play area at Glenmore Farm, on land to the north-west of The Ham.

Taylor Wimpey has submitted the application after conducting a public consultation in July 2014 which gave local residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders the chance to help shape the proposals by providing their feedback.

A decision on the application is expected later this year, and in the meantime, local people have a further opportunity to comment on the proposed development by visiting the council’s website at wiltshire.gov.uk.

Emma Powell, Strategic Land Manager for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We are pleased to have submitted our planning application for this high-quality residential scheme to provide much-needed new homes and community investment for the Westbury area.

“We have worked hard to ensure that our development proposals reflect the priorities and aspirations of local people, and we are confident that it will both complement and enhance the surrounding community. We now look forward to receiving a decision on the plans from Wiltshire Council in due course.”

Taylor Wimpey’s proposed development seeks outline planning permission for approximately 145 new homes, with access to be taken via an existing farm access off The Ham.

The scheme will also include areas of public open space, a central children’s play area and a footpath/cycleway running through the development site to link the new homes and open spaces with the neighbouring West Wiltshire Trading Estate.

Should outline planning permission be granted by Wiltshire Council, Taylor Wimpey will submit a further ‘reserved matters’ planning application to the local authority dealing with detailed matters of design and layout for the proposed development.

Further information about Taylor Wimpey’s outline planning application is available by visiting taylorwimpey.co.uk or via Wiltshire Council’s online planning pages at wiltshire.gov.uk (search planning reference 15/07071/OUT).
