TT Scouts draw a Yamaha R6

Yamaha went to the Centenary TT in a big way this year. Alongside renaming Ramsey, ‘Yamsey’ and providing Yamaha overalls and caps to the Manx Scouts who operate the TT Grandstand scoreboard, the company also presented a brand new Yamaha YZF-R6 to the Manx Scouts to be used as the first prize in their TT Centenary Tombola.

Local Scout Groups sold tickets from the beginning of the Year and sales were also made at the Grandstand (with the kind agreement of the IOM Department of Tourism) at local Shoprite stores and also at the Yamaha sponsored Ramsey Sprint.

The Draw was made at the Grandstand on Senior Race Day by Yamaha World Superbike star, Noriyuki Haga, who drew out Irishman Paul Mulhern’s ticket. Paul, 39, who lives in Douglas, was bowled over when he first heard the news from the Island’s Yamaha dealer, Alan Lund from Yamaha dealer Road and Track Motorcycles.

Presented at that dealership in Douglas, Paul took delivery of the Supersport Yamaha from Yamaha’s Marketing Manager, Simon Belton. In attendance was Harley Shimmin (Treasurer, Manx Scouts Assoc.) and Alan Teare (Island Commisioner) who were delighted with the £10,500 raised by the sales of tickets, money that will be used to purchase Adventure Equipment for Scout Groups on the Island.
