Facciotti no Lite-weight!

27th February 2008 Print
The ACU British Supercross series came to a close last weekend (23rd February) at the superb O2 Arena in London. An enthusiastic crowd cheered on the best of British Supercross for last event of the season.

In the Pro Lights class, Dixon Yamaha team-mates, Colton Facciotti and Jean Sebastien Roy, both from Canada, entered the event separated by only three points at the top of the championship, the two Yamaha riders using YZ250F machines.

Honda’s Mike Brown jumped out to the early lead with Roy and Facciotti in tow. Facciotti only need to finish behind his team mate to claim his second British Supercross Championship title of his career, which he did with relative ease.

The Pro Open final was set for another riveting race. Brown got a great start leading the pack and started to pull out a lead before 19-year-old Canadian Kyle Beaton (riding a production Yamaha YZ250F from Yamaha UK’s press test fleet!), tucked in behind Brown and started to put the pressure on. At the half way point, Beaton seized the opportunity and made the pass on Brown. Once leading, the Yamaha rider on his white charger did not let up and claimed a sizeable victory over Brown for Yamaha and Dixon Racing. Brown would claim the title while Jean Sebastien Roy (Dixon Yamaha) would take 5th in the pro open main and second overall in the championship and team-mate Facciotti would take third on the night and in the overall standings.

All-in-all it has been a great year for the Future West ACU British Supercross Championship. Yamaha Motor UK were proud to be associated with the 3 round series and look forward to the first round of the 08 series which kicks off at Sheffield on October 25th.
