Premium housebuilder Charles Church is set to offer 76 new homes for sale in Downton this summer.

The Bishops Mead development, on Salisbury Road, includes a range of properties for first time buyers, growing families or downsizers.

Mark Docherty, sales director for Charles Church South Coast, said: “Downton is a very popular village, and the location of Bishops Mead, giving direct access to Salisbury, Fordingbridge and Ringwood, means we expect it to be a big hit with commuters.

“Helping to create thriving communities is very important to Charles Church so, along with the 76 new homes we are creating here, we are also contributing to the expansion of the primary school, the refurbishment of the memorial hall and the provision of a pedestrian crossing on Salisbury Road.

“To appeal to a wide range of people, we will be building one bedroom apartments as well as two, three and four bedroom houses.”

Prospective buyers can register their interest on the Charles Church website at charleschurch.com to be first to know when the properties are released for sale.

The Government estimates around 300,000 new homes need to be built each year to meet the demand that has grown since the economic downturn of 2008. It has put in place a raft of measures, such as a review of planning regulations, providing finance for large-scale infrastructure projects and helping individuals to access affordable mortgages through schemes like Help To Buy.

Charles Church South Coast, and its sister company Persimmon Homes, create new homes throughout Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

The firm also operates a Community Champions match-funding scheme, making two donations of up to £1,000 every month to local groups, charities or organisations that improve the areas in which the company builds. Downton Band was a recent recipient of the funding, which it used to purchase additional instruments. For more information, visit persimmonhomes.com/charity.
