New Ford Transit still a firm favourite with British business

20th July 2006 Print
The new Ford Transit is impressing business customers across the country, and British businesses have been giving their feedback after a series of drive days to test out the new model.

Texturcare Ltd, based in Norfolk, is well qualified to comment on Ford vehicles, having driven the brand for more than 20 years.

"We’ve stayed with Ford for good reason," said director Alan Woods. "Transit has always been so reliable, we still see some of our original vans on the road and one had covered nearly 200,000 miles when we sold it.

"Maintenance costs are very important to a small business such as ours, and parts prices are very reasonable. We had a van from a competitor and even a service item such as an exhaust was three times more expensive than that of the Transit."

Texturcare’s Transport Manager, Kevin Jarrad, said: "We have to tow some heavy trailers and the power and available torque makes the Transit ideal compared to rivals we’ve tried, which do seem to struggle."

The company’s work takes them throughout the UK, and even abroad with a recent contract in Sweden. "Comfort is very important to us with the long distances that our teams have to travel," said Alan. "It’s also important that we present the right image and the new Transit looks superb. There has been lots of thought as to who is going to use the van, with spaces for a laptop and more mundane things such as bottles.

"I had thought our existing Transits had been so good we might order the outgoing model before stocks sold out. However, having driven the new Transit it is very impressive and we shall certainly be looking to see it on our fleet."
