New homes bring investment in Aylesbury
Education in the Aylesbury area is in line for a major windfall as a result of new homes being built in Weston Turville.
Redrow will build 135 new homes on approximately 30 acres of land on New Road.
The award-winning housebuilder has pledged to invest more than £2.2 million in the community, including £1.4 million for local education, as part of the forthcoming development, known as Weston Grove.
Edward Irving, land director for Redrow Homes (South Midlands), said: “Having secured planning consent to build new homes in Weston Turville we’re looking forward to starting work to help satisfy demand for housing in the area. We want to ensure that as the neighbourhood grows, facilities and services in the area are not only maintained but enhanced for the benefit of both existing and new residents.
“For example, because we’re predominantly building family homes we’ll be investing heavily in schools and have agreed to make a contribution of more than £1.4 million to education. We’ll also pay £360,000 towards sports and leisure projects and will make a substantial investment in highways, including improvements to the A41.”
More than 60% of the land will be public open space as Redrow will build new homes on just 11.3 acres of the site.
The scheme will include a village green and a local equipped area for play.
Designs will be from Redrow’s sought-after Heritage Collection of traditional looking homes inspired by the architecture of the Arts & Crafts era.
There will be 88 private sale homes in a choice of three, four and five-bedroom styles. The remainder will meet a need for affordable housing in the area and be offered via a housing association for shared ownership or social rent.
The first of the properties are due to be released for sale in early 2017 and will enjoy a village location only a couple of miles south east of Aylesbury and its amenities.
