This weekend, Barratt Homes is hosting a Help to Buy event at its popular Martello Lakes development in Hythe, Kent. Taking place on Saturday 9th February from 11am-4pm, the event will offer property hunters the opportunity to learn more about the scheme and the homes available for purchase at the development.

A specialist Help to Buy adviser will be on hand to explain the homebuying process using the helpful Government equity loan scheme. A high turnout is anticipated, as first time buyers and second steppers alike look to use Help to Buy to purchase a home with only a 5 % deposit. Potential homebuyers will also be able to view the two show homes at the development, offering a glimpse into life at the development.

Help to Buy, the Government’s popular equity loan scheme, helps both first time buyers and house movers purchase a brand new home with lower upfront costs. The helpful scheme means that buyers only need to raise a five per cent deposit, while the Government steps in with an interest-free (for the first five years) loan of a further 20% of the property value. In this way, buyers are able to access more affordable 75% loan-to-value mortgages.

Help to Buy is available with new homes worth up to the value of £600,000, meaning all remaining properties at Martello Lakes are available with the scheme.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Homes Kent, comments: “Help to Buy is designed to give first time buyers the assistance they need in getting onto the property ladder, as well as to help second steppers upsize into a new home. The scheme has proven to be very popular in Kent and we are pleased to see the positive impact it is having on homebuyers. Our Help to Buy event is the perfect opportunity for people to find out more about the scheme, and we encourage prospective buyers to visit Martello Lakes to find out more.”

An ideal location, the historic town centre of Hythe is a five-minute drive or short bus ride away from Martello Lakes and is packed full of family-run stores, cafes, boutiques, antique shops and seafood restaurants. The beach is situated across the road from development and a Waitrose supermarket is also close by. Ashford International is just over 20 minutes away, connecting residents with Kings Cross St Pancras in 38 minutes and Paris in two hours. The Channel ferry ports of Folkestone and Dover are also both nearby, whilst Gatwick Airport is just over an hour away.

Upon completion, the Natural England south coastal walk will run through the development, offering residents an opportunity to enjoy the natural environment. The historic Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Steam Railway backs onto the development and a railway halt will be provided for residents, connecting them to New Romney and Dungeness. Port Lympne Reserve and Brockhill Country Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, are just a short drive away too.

Martello Lakes is more than fifty per cent sold, and currently available is a collection of three- and four-bedroom houses. Prices start from £264,995 for a three-bedroom terraced house. With a five per cent deposit through Help to Buy, buyers can secure a property from just £13,294.
