LDV Maxus sales soar

LDV is celebrating after sales of its MAXUS range of light commercial vehicles finished the year 28 per cent up on 2006.

Under the ownership of GAZ Group there has been a significant upturn in the fortune of the Birmingham based business.

In the 12 months to December 2007 LDV has:

Doubled the output of its MAXUS product
Made productivity improvements of 38 per cent through the introduction of GAZ lean manufacturing techniques
Created 200 new jobs
Installed a £6m chassis cab manufacturing line
Introduced 12, 15 and 17 seat minibuses together with accessible versions
Introduced a range of chassis cabs including dropsides, tippers and Lutons
Introduced two new engine variants at 105ps and 135ps
Introduced fridge and ambulance versions of MAXUS
Entered the Benelux, Spanish and French markets and strengthened distribution channels in Scandinavia and in the Asia Pacific Rim
Introduced MAXUS into Russia
Been awarded the UK Company of the Year 2007 by the Institute of Transport Management
