Nissan appoints Volvo Truck and Bus Centres
Following the announcement made on the eve of the Commercial Vehicle Show earlier this year that the two companies were in discussions, Nissan has now signed an official agreement with Volvo Trucks. As part of the agreement eight Volvo Truck and Bus Centres have now formally become part of the Nissan Commercial Vehicle Dealer Network (NCVDN) and, once preparations have been completed, will be eligible to sell and carry out service, repair and warranty work on Nissan’s Interstar and Cabstar models.
Targeting their heavy commercial vehicle customer and prospects, the Volvo Truck and Bus Centres will complement Nissan’s existing CV dealers which are primarily focused on local businesses and small fleet opportunities. These appointments are a critical part of Nissan’s strategy in which it plans to significantly increase its Interstar and Cabstar sales volumes over the coming years.
Commenting on the agreement Nissan’s managing director, Gary Frigo said; “Nissan is focusing on its Global LCV strategy. The addition of the Volvo Truck and Bus Centres signifies our dedication and commitment to the CV business and our real intention to grow our LCV volume dramatically between now and 2010.
Mark Lovett, Nissan’s sales and marketing manager for commercial vehicles said; “Volvo Trucks offers real value and strength to our own CV dealer network as they have an excellent understanding of the needs and demands of CV operators and will give Interstar and Cabstar customers immediate reassurance and confidence in their purchase decisions.”
