FTA at FPS expo 2008

29th February 2008 Print
The Freight Transport Association will be an exhibitor at the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers exhibition FPS EXPO 2008, to be held in Dublin on 23/24April. FTA provides a wide range of representation and services for transport operators from all sectors of UK industry, including those
covering fuel distribution.

FTA provides a range of training including ADR, receiving deliveries of petroleum spirit, Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSA) and road transport security of dangerous goods. Shopfta also carries a range of products relating to dangerous goods, health and safety.

The association's Dangerous Goods Consultancy Team offers a comprehensive and independent support service, including full DGSA cover, a coaching service for newly qualified DGSAs, dangerous goods health checks and Tremcard assistance.

FTA's independent Tanker Inspection and Certification Service provides comprehensive examinations of tankers and their associated equipment - helping to ensure the safety of drivers and the general public. Since 1999 FTA has been undertaking operators' tank tests using low-pressure oxygen
free nitrogen gas (OFN), avoiding the need to clean or de-gas the tank prior to testing, and there is no water to dispose of for non ADR tanks.

With the introduction of new ADR regulations in 2004, FTA's UKAS/DfT accredited/approved inspection service can now test both non-ADR and ADR tanks in accordance with the Energy Institute's Model Written Scheme (examination, testing and certification of petroleum road tankers), Schedule 2 of 'The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2007' and ADR requirements (EN 12972).

Fully trained, dedicated FTA engineers test tankers using the latest industry test equipment and certify operators' tanks to a national standard.

The visiting on-site service significantly reduces downtime and associated costs, and guarantees the integrity of tanks and their associated equipment.
