FTA launches International supply chain forum

The Freight Transport Association is creating a new policy forum to address the UK’s international supply chain. This body will involve all stakeholders in this process: shippers; operators and infrastructure providers. It will cover all modes, and deal with both operational challenges and public policy issues.

This new group will be known as the International Supply Chain Forum (ISCF).

The purpose of the ISCF will be twofold: to guide FTA’s policy, lobbying and campaigning activities in this area; and to provide a forum for industry practitioners to exchange knowledge and best practice so as to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain to and from the UK.

The Forum will be open to all FTA members and invited key players in the supply chain.

The ISCF will operate on two levels:

as a virtual community, with members receiving information on policy and operational issues from FTA and being able to input on policy and campaigning decisions
formal meetings to discuss key issues and run workshops
The first meeting of the ISCF will be held on 11 June and will include the following items:
workshop on improving flow through container ports
presentation on European rail freight services from EWS
discussion of industry response to Government’s plans on aviation tax
briefing from Transec on security issues affecting international movement of goods across all modes
session on managing supply chain costs
