FTA International Road Transport Guide 2008
The Freight Transport Association has published the 2008 edition of its International Road Transport Guide – the comprehensive guide to the operation of goods vehicles in over 50 countries throughout Europe and the Middle East.As ever, the book describes special requirements for permits and quotas; vehicle operations; the CMR Convention; dangerous goods; perishable foodstuffs; the transport of animals; and drivers’ hours and records. A comprehensive section provides information on customs procedures and documentation.
This year the book contains more details of local ferry routes and fines for non-compliance with local regulations for some countries. Montenegro and Serbia appear for the first time as two independent country sections following the further division of the old Yugoslavian territory. And details of the requirements for undertaking cabotage in Austria are also new.
FTA is indebted to the staff of HM Revenue and Customs, who have reviewed the chapters on Customs procedures. In response to a member inquiry, a specimen Flemish letter has now been added to the bilingual attestation letter section, as well as a copy of the European Commission cover note.
Companies in international membership of FTA receive a free copy of this 450 page guide as part of their subscription package. Further copies (1-5) are available for £35 each, six or more are priced at £20 each. Non-international FTA members and others may also purchase copies from Shopfta, tel: 08717 11 11 11.
