Truckfest comes to the North East
Truckfest, the largest road haulage festival of its kind in Europe, is bringing a brand new show to the North East. Held at Croft Circuit, Croft on Tees, from Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2009, Truckfest is much more than a trucking exhibition with stunning family entertainment, a retail village, live action and celebrity guest appearances.Hundreds of trucks of all shapes and sizes with amazing customised paintjobs, gleaming chrome and fantastic interiors will be on display, all hoping to win one of the many awards up for grabs commending the best in show. Categories include Kept Owner Driver, Company Owned, New Truck, Fleet, Tipper or Rigged Truck, Custom and Paintwork and Classic or Vintage Truck.
As well as static displays, Trucks will be at the heart of the action with demonstrations from the British Truck Racing Association, showcasing just how far racing trucks have come and how they can reach 100mph faster than a Porsche 911!
Celebrity appearances already confirmed include Rick Yemm, the star of the cult TV show Ice Road Truckers, and the voice of the roads Sally ‘Traffic’ Boazman from BBC Radio 2. They will be joined by other famous faces from the UK’s best loved soaps and TV which are yet to be confirmed. A fun fair, children’s cartoon characters and hundreds of trade stands, will make it a family fun weekend not to be missed.
Other celebs appearing will be of the wheeled variety including the trucks which faced various challenges when driven by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May in the latest series of Top Gear as well as Big Foot and Thunder Bolt, the Monster Trucks that will be crushing the cars that just can’t hack the pace! With its 66-inch tyres and top speed of 80 miles per hour, Bigfoot holds several World records including longest distance Monster Truck jump at 202 feet over a 727 aeroplane and the longest wheelie! Truckfest won’t have aeroplanes but will have cars ready to be crushed as both trucks jump more than 14 cars, travelling 110-115 feet through the air!
