New DVD helps drivers with crucial lorry checks

21st May 2009 Print
All fleet operators should have a system in place for the maintenance and inspection of their vehicles, and a crucial part of this includes drivers carrying out a routine walk-around check every time they take over a vehicle. To help operators train their drivers in this important area, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has produced another in its popular series of DVDs, ‘Routine Checks for Large Goods Vehicles.’

The 12 minute DVD provides a practical demonstration of how drivers should carry out routine checks of large goods vehicles, and features an 18 tonne curtainside truck, an artic combination with a tank semi-trailer and a rigid fitted with a dropside body.

A second disc provides a set of manager’s notes, test papers and answer papers to be used in conjunction with disc one.

The DVD is £15 plus VAT for FTA members and £20 plus VAT for non-members, with discounts for multiple orders, and is available from shop.fta.co.uk
