Triumph unveils 2008 model range at Paris show

Following another year of strong growth Triumph Motorcycles today unveiled a host of significant changes to its range for 2008.

Modern Classics - Bonneville, T100, Scrambler & Thruxton

2008 sees the introduction of electronic fuel-injection to Triumph’s range of Modern Classics, making them fully compliant with Euro 3 regulations. Featuring new fuel tanks, throttle bodies and exhaust systems, the EFI system improves throttle response as well as making the bikes much cleaner and easier to start from cold. While these changes bring the Classics into line with the latest emissions rules, the unique, retro style of these iconic machines remains unchanged as the new throttle bodies have been carefully designed to look exactly like carburettors. The Modern Classics also feature revised brake pad material for improved braking performance and a new, easier to release fuel filler cap.

The Thruxton goes one step further by way of a number of changes to improve comfort levels, notably a more upright seating position. New handlebars and a new top yoke reduce the weight on the wrists without detracting from the bike’s sporty feel, whilst new finishes to the top yoke and instruments give the bike a classy, high quality look. Bar-end mirrors come as standard in 2008 and two new colour schemes complete the bike’s transformation.

Triumph also has some great new accessories for the classics in the form of spine-tingling, road legal Arrow exhaust systems for the Bonneville, T100, Thruxton and Scrambler.

Cruisers – America, Speedmaster, Rocket III, Rocket III Classic

For 2008, the America and Speedmaster get the new EFI system, with the same benefits to performance as outlined for the Modern Classics, but they are also given completely restyled, seamless fuel tanks making for cleaner lines to the overall appearance of the bikes.

The new tanks increase fuel capacity from 16.6 litres to 19.3 litres.

The Rocket III and Rocket III Classic are technically unchanged but both are offered in new colour schemes – a rich new Claret option for the Rocket III and striking Cherry Red/New England White or Pacific Blue/Aluminium Silver for the Classic.

Urban Sports – Daytona 675, Street Triple, Speed Triple, Sprint ST, Tiger

As well as the addition of the stunning new Street Triple, a bike that has raised the bar in the naked middleweight class, there are a number of updates across Triumph’s Urban Sports range.

The award-winning Daytona 675 comes with new side-fairing decals for 2008, along with a gold anodised top nut and improved headlight performance. Alongside the standard model, 2008 sees the introduction of the Daytona 675 SE – a 2008 specification 675 with a sultry Phantom Black paint scheme, black engine covers, gold finished wheels and gold coloured decals.

The Sprint ST receives the same headlight performance improvement as the Daytona 675 while the footrests have been modified and now employ a more durable rubber for prolonged wear. For 2008 the ST will also feature a steel fuel tank.

The Tiger, introduced in 2007, remains unchanged in its second year, but gets a new, Blazing Orange paint scheme.

And finally, the new Speed Triple

For the last three years, since its release in 2005, the Speed Triple has been the king of the performance naked class. To keep it there, for 2008 the Speed Triple has been provided with a host of changes and updates to give the bike a sharper, leaner look.

The new bike features a completely re-designed rear sub-frame, seat and body panels with polished stainless steel heat shields and new ball burnished aluminium pillion footrests to give the pillion rider more leg room. There are also new wheels and headlights, as well as new Magura tapered aluminium handlebars, Brembo 4 piston/4-pad, radial front brake calipers and a Nissin radial master cylinder. Black anodised forks and new radiator shrouds complete the high quality, sleek look. All this equates to a completely refreshed Speed Triple, ensuring its continued status as the definitive factory streetfighter.
