Ian’s smart DVLA drive!

Fanatical biker-turned-amateur photographer Ian Smart made the 10-hour round trip from West Lothian to Birmingham… to collect his DVLA Personalised Registrations Bike Vistas II prize at the International Motorbike and Scooter Show.

The 42-year-old, who won the international competition with a stunning photograph taken while riding near Loch Loyal in the Highlands, was presented with a framed, professionally printed copy of his picture along with £500, courtesy of leading motorbike accessory Bikers World.

Ian, who lives in Livingston, said: “To win the first photographic competition I’ve entered is fantastic, but seeing my picture emblazoned across the DVLA stand was truly mind-blowing. Thanks to Bikers World, I’ve spent my winnings on a new helmet.”

Jody Davies, of DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “Ian’s stunning photograph has enriched our stand and taken pride of place in our desk-top calendar. The feedback from visitors to our stand has been tremendous.”

Warren Harding, Bikers World Managing Director, said: “We’re only too pleased to be able to support Bike Vistas II, Ian is a worthy winner as his photograph was simply breathtaking.”

Bike Vistas II was organised by DVLA Personalised Registrations to get motorbikers to take their own photographs encompassing their favourite views while out riding. Hundreds of bikers using digital cameras and mobile phones responded from around the world, Mr Smart’s image was chosen as the outright winner by an independent judging panel chaired by highly acclaimed motorbike photographer, Chippy Wood.
