moneysupermarket.com: new iPhone
Commenting on the iPhone release, Rob Barnes, head of mobiles at moneysupermarket.com said: “I am glad to see UK consumers will not have to pay over the odds for the iPhone when compared to the US; the price point is perfect for the pre-Christmas market.“The iPhone will help O2 gain a large slice of the mobile market share, placing additional focus on the brand, and no doubt increase profits.
“For those who want the latest hi-tech gadgets the O2 tariffs are excellent value and not too dissimilar to the ones already offered to customers. The added bonus is that these tariffs, specific to iPhone, are inclusive of mobile internet access, which is worth an extra £10 to £15 per month to the customer. Yet, people should be aware that they will have to pay £269 for the phone on top of their £35 a month.
“With this in mind, before you rush out and put your name down for one, I would advise mobile users to consider the array of hi-tech handsets available at present, some of which offer better value. For example, The Nokia N95 is available free on most £30 contracts across all networks, it is 3G enabled, which the iPhone isn't, and has a 5 mega pixel camera. The HTC Touch is also a great touchscreen handset and has excellent internet access if that is something you’re looking for, also available free on contract.”
