£5 to donate to BEN on every mobile connection

When Jerry Bart joined a small telecoms company ‘Ecocall’ in 2000 and founded the BEN Telecom Alliance, little did he know how successful the project would be? His idea was very simple, join Ecocall as your telecom’s provider and not only save up to 40% on your existing BT bill but also, for every call made, a donation of 2.5% of its value would be given to BEN, the Automotive Industry Charity.

The latest cheque for nearly £9,000 was recently given to Charles Davis, Director of Fundraising and Communications at BEN by Opal’s Steve Cook and Jerry Bart. This brings the total donations by Opal, since 2000, to over £70,000. At the recent cheque presentation Charles Davis thanked Jerry Bart for his commitment to the BEN Telecom Alliance commenting, “We are very grateful to Jerry for his enthusiasm and commitment to this project. We have been greatly helped by the recommendations and support of major automotive associations, in particular the ADF, VBRA and the NTDA. Indeed, automotive customers who originally signed up such as NGK, Continental Tyres, Maccess and the SMMT are still using their services. Jerry has recently negotiated a deal with all the mobile networks to donate £5 to BEN on every connection provided these orders come through his BEN team. He is expecting the BEN contributions to more than double over the next period as a result of the increased support from Opal Telecom and the new mobile network agreement.”
