Poppy Save launches in time for D-Day anniversary

Coventry Building Society launches Poppy Save in partnership with The Royal British Legion Coventry Building Society is delighted to announce the launch of Poppy Save, an innovative postal savings account that will not only deliver a significant charitable donation but also a great rate for savers.

The launch of Poppy Save follows the tremendous success of the Poppy Bond, launched in November 2008, which delivered a donation of nearly £1.6m to The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Poppy Save, available from Friday 5th June, is a variable rate, limited access postal savings account that offers a highly competitive return of 2.50% AER Gross p.a.. That's a full 2.00% above the Bank of England's base rate and it offers four penalty free withdrawals each year. In addition, the Coventry will make a donation to the Poppy Appeal which will equal 0.25% of the average funds held in Poppy Save in each twelve month period, beginning 1st June 2009. The first donation will be made in the summer of 2010, and each year subsequently.

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served or who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, as well as their dependents. Currently, nearly 10.5 million people are eligible for this support and the Legion receives thousands of calls for help every year. Poppy Save has been designed to support the work of the Legion by raising much needed funds.
