Meet heroes through Money Can’t Buy Prizes!

13th August 2009 Print
Leeds Building Society's Blue & Amber affinity account offers Leeds Rhinos fans a regular chance to win some outstanding prizes.

The ‘money can't buy' experiences are drawn bi-monthly and an example of one of these prizes is to win ‘Match day hospitality for four people with a VIP guest.' This prize was recently taken up at the Leeds Rhinos home match with Warrington Wolves.

The beneficiary of this prize was six year old Alfie Wray, who had the prize donated to him by a family friend, Mr Stead, as a goodwill gesture following the recent death of Alfie's mother. The VIP on the day was the injured Rhinos star Ryan Bailey, and Alfie attended along with three members of his family.

Commenting on the prize Alison Russell, Alfie's grandmother said, "Alfie, his dad, uncle and Granddad went to the match and had a fantastic time. It was a special day for a very special little boy who has been extremely brave recently. Alfie met some of the players and is now sure, at six years old, that he will be a Leeds Rhino when he grows up! I can't thank Mr Stead enough for his generosity and the Leeds Building society for such a brilliant day."

Mr Stead said, "It is tremendous that Alfie was able to enjoy a wonderful day out following such a tragic few weeks for anyone, let along a six year old boy. My wife and myself were delighted to donate our prize to him so he could have this magical treat following the terrible time he has been through following the death of his mother. It took his mind off things, even if only for a few hours, he was able to meet Ryan Bailey and was treated to a match with a very exciting finish. I would like to thank Leeds Building Society for allowing me to donate my prize to Alfie, and giving him such a memorable experience."

The other ‘Money Can't Buy Prizes,' which are drawn bi-monthly through the Blue and Amber account, are ‘A day with the Head Coach of the Rhinos team,' ‘A day with the players - watch them train and join them for lunch,' ‘A coaching session with your favourite player at your club or school' and ‘Be Ronnie's mascot and run out onto the pitch at a game of your choice.'
