The £1,425 cost of ‘Pottermania’
Parents of Harry Potter fans may be forgiven for not feeling the world famous wizard is all that ‘magic’, as research reveals the £1,425 cost of being an official fan.The launch this week (21st July) of the final book in the series, and the current screening of the fifth film, look set to conjure up Pottermania once again, leaving families of hardened Harry fans even more out of pocket.
The research from friendly society LV= calculates that the full set of Harry Potter books alone would stack up to £174 in value, while investing in his wizard wardrobe (including wand, robe, tie, glasses, pyjamas and broom) would cost an additional £113. Add to this a whopping £372 price tag for the various official games and toys, and it is easy to see how Harry’s spell could cause Potter parents a real financial headache this summer.
