ASDA slashes the price of Easter for millions of families

ASDA has announced that it had delivered on its pledge to lower 12,500 prices by Easter across the entire store, as the supermarket continues its mission to drive down the cost of the weekly shop for millions of hard-pressed shoppers.

Rollbacks for Easter include fresh fish, meat and produce, frozen desserts, soft drinks, a range of alcoholic tipples, family DVDs, George clothing and kids toys. Easter eggs are also still available from 68p, and six hot cross buns for 27p.

In order to cater for the entire family this weekend ASDA has rolled back the price of packs of smoked salmon to 97p (was £1.97), and a number of roasting joints including legs of lamb for £3.98/kg (was £7.99/kg), beef joints £3.97/kg (was £8.48/kg), legs of pork £2.88/kg (was £5.78/kg), and gammon joints 1.4kg £3.40, (was £6.98).

Specifically for Good Friday ASDA is offering a range of fresh from the fish from the counter, including cod portions 120g £1 each, haddock portions 140g £1 each, salmon portions 120g £1 each, and a whole Salmon for £10 each (N.B. offer available until 12th April).

Customers can also pick up packs of fresh produce in a 2 for £1 deal - products include heritage potatoes 1.5kg (individual pack price 97p), white cabbage (68p each), pack of parsnips 1kg (N.B. offer runs until 13 April).

To keep the kids entertained, ASDA is selling a range of 40 family DVDs for 3 for £10, and games like Junior Monopoly for £5, and Admiral footballs for £3.

Andy Bond, ASDA President and CEO said: "We promised earlier this year to slash the price of Easter, and that's exactly what we've done. Prices have tumbled across the entire store. The sheer scale of our price cuts mean that no matter what you want to eat, do or wear over Easter, you can be guaranteed to get everything under one roof at ASDA, for less than anywhere else."

Earlier this year ASDA introduced a range of permanent deals including three packs of fresh meat for £10, 200 health and beauty products for £1, 100 frozen products for £1 and three for £10 on a range of 50 leading wines.

In February the supermarket also waved "bye bye to BOGOFs" and any deals or promotions that aren't substantiated by a price. Instead ASDA guarantees that customers will always be shown the price they'll pay for every item, deal or no deal.
