Downsize Me: Series 2

13th February 2007 Print
Coming new and exclusive to LIVINGtv2 is the second series of the hit New Zealand health and fitness show. The show’s presenters, health expert Damian Kristof and personal trainer Lee-Anne Wann, aim to transform the unhealthy lifestyles of overweight New Zealanders by challenging them to fight the flab and get fit in just two months. Offering sensible advice and giving them an ultimate temptation test along the way, the duo really push their chubby charges to the max.

In a world where the problems of poor eating and obesity are compounded by faddy diets, the advice of Damian and Lee-Ann’s combined expertise offers these overweight Kiwis the perfect balance between a healthy diet and a good fitness programme. Everyone’s needs are different, so the duo designs tailor-made packages for each of their subjects.

Damian offers his own extensive knowledge of nutrition to rid the participants of the unhealthy elements of their diet, such as processed food, sweets and fizzy drinks. Lee-Anne brings her own brand of tough-love personal training, showing the downsizers how to build exercise into their daily lives and keep up their newfound good habits.

The two-month journey to a healthy body is a gruelling one for many of the participants, as Damian and Lee-Anne set them some extreme physical challenges and some cruel temptation tests, such as a barbeque sausage stand rigged with hidden cameras, placed temptingly close to junk food junkie, Shannon! There are also some life-changing shocks in store for some of these downsizers, as Lee-Anne and Damian open their eyes to the consequences of their bad diets by taking an otherwise healthy individual and subjecting them to the diet and lifestyle of the overweight participant, illustrating just how much damage they are doing to their bodies.

Damian and Lee-Anne’s biggest challenge this series may be 26-year-old single mother, Heather, who drinks more than 42 bottles of energy drink a week. Last time she tried to break free from her sugar-caffeine addiction she passed out! Have the duo met their match? Find out next week, exclusively on LIVINGtv2.

Series 2 starts on Monday 26th February at 9pm; livingtv.co.uk.
