EAS Supports British Figure Athlete’s World Champ Dream

28th June 2007 Print
Clare Taubman Up and coming figure athlete Clare Taubman, 25, is preparing for the Body Fitness World Championships with the help of natural sports nutrition specialist EAS.

Clare already has some championship places to her name: she won the South Coast Championship last year and was placed third in the British Championships 2006 and the Emerald Cup in Seattle in April this year.

“The competition is very tough but I’m getting better each time I compete,” says Clare who started to train seriously just over a year ago. “Nutrition plays a huge role in achieving a figure athlete’s physique – I’d say it’s 80% nutrition, and 20% exercise,” she says. “I couldn’t do this without sports nutrition and EAS is my chosen brand because it offers a wide range of excellent products that are produced naturally. They are doping free guaranteed which is not only reassuring to me personally but essential at the level of competition I’m now getting into. The products taste great too which always helps!”

DEMANDING SCHEDULE

Clare has a demanding training schedule that she fits around her job as a fitness instructor at Fitness First gym in Fareham. She gets up at 4am to do her first cardio session which could be running, cross trainer or stationary bike. This is crucial to Clare keeping her body fat to a minimum which she needs to do so her muscle definition can be clearly shown. She then starts work at 6am and spends her day teaching classes and training people, then in the afternoon Clare does her weights session, focusing on one body part per day. Typically she’ll do six to 10 exercises in sets of four 15-30 repetitions. When she finishes work at the gym, Clare tops off her training day with another cardio session. And she follows this grueling schedule for five to six days a week.

INSPIRATION

Clare’s inspiration to be a figure athlete came from women’s fitness magazines. “I used to flick through the pages and see really toned, fit young women and thinking ‘I’d like to look like that’. I was lucky in that I was already quite fit as I ran and did athletics. But it’s a huge step up from this to the exacting physical standards required for competition.

“That said, through careful training and the right nutrition I have created competition-level physique in 18 months and anyone committed enough to the strict exercise and nutrition programme could follow my example,” she believes.

SPORTS NUTRITION

EAS has over 50 products to support training, performance and recovery for all types of sports, weight lifting, body building and figure athletes.

Clare takes four key supplements to support her training programme:

Thermodynamx –a thermogenic fat burning formula that accelerates the metabolism to burn off extra calories

CLA – the ‘fat that burns fat’ this helps improve body composition and inhibit fat storage.

Myopro Whey – a 100% pure whey protein that provides the highest biological value protein available from any single source. It helps support muscle growth, integrity and performance.

Glutamine Matrix HP – comprising L-Glutamine to boost workout energy, speed muscle recovery and growth and guard against free radical damage from strenuous exercise.

NEXT GOALS

Clare is now working towards the Bodyfitness World Championships that are held in Spain this September. “Every competition sees me fitter, stronger and leaner – but then again the other ladies are all improving too! It’s a tough competition but definitely within my reach if I continue to improve at this rate.”
