Stay match fit this summer

24th June 2008 Print
This June, the Artois Men’s Championships at The Queen’s Club and the International Women’s Open in Eastbourne will see the world’s best tennis players warming up for the biggest tennis event of the sporting calendar – Wimbledon.

Federer, Sharapova and our own Andrew Murray will be playing a careful game to make sure they are not injured before the big grass tournament whilst still wanting to do well and, in the process, inspiring the British public to dust off their rackets and hit the courts too.

In order for the big hitters and the amateur players to stay fit whilst enjoying their game, here are a few tips to help with the aches and pains and ward off injury: –

- Pulling muscles or tendons is inevitable at some point when doing a vigorous sport like tennis. Arnicare Arnica Cream is an effective healing treatment for everyday bumps and bruises. Nelsons Arnicare Arnica Spray quickly covers large areas of skin following a bump or knock and can ease aching muscles especially after exercise

- Tennis elbow is the most common injury in tennis and is inflammation through vigorous exercise. The only way to prevent it is to have a proper warm-up before physical activity and treatments include lots of rest and natural anti-inflammatory remedies such as Devil Claw.

- Outdoor activities are the best sort of sport – lots of fresh air as well as a good work-out, but if you forget to cover up if the sun’s out, Nelsons Burn Cream is great for minor burns relieving pain and promoting healing.

- Summertime can also herald hayfever, which can seriously put you off your stroke. One false sneeze and your serve could send you crashing out in the second set – Nelsons Pollenna works by stimulating the body’s own natural healing processes to provide effective relief for the symptoms of hay fever.

- Tennis is tiring and to ace your opponent out of the court might mean giving it that extra push. Anyone taking regular exercise could require extra iron to compensate that used during high energy expenditure and that’s where Spatone liquid iron supplement could help.

- Alternatively, if you are a little burnt out from a hard week in the office or there is a lot going on your life and you are mentally exhausted, Bach Original Flower Remedy Olive could help – just a few drops in your water and the spring will be put back into your step.
