Denham Garden Village offers a solution for empty nesters

Life expectancy has reached its highest levels ever with both men and women expected to live at least an additional 15 years. As the older generation are therefore staying longer in their family homes, it is first time buyers and young families who are suffering the effects and are finding it more and more difficult to find suitable family homes.

One solution to this national problem is providing suitable and practical housing for the retired and Denham Garden Village in Buckinghamshire – an exclusive development for the over 55’s – has found the answer.

Jackie Eltis, General Manager for Denham Garden Village, says: “Denham Garden Village is a retirement development where residents do not need to compromise on their independent lifestyle. Purchasers can move in and live their own life whilst in the knowledge that support is there if they one day may need it.”

Len Scott and his wife Doreen sold their four bedroom family home to buy a property at Denham Garden Village. Len says: We loved our previous home where we bought up our two children. We decided to buy here at Denham because we realised that we no longer needed all the space and when I developed arthritis I could not help run the house. Instead of burdening others we took control of our lives and haven’t looked back.”

Denham Garden Village in South Buckinghamshire is an exclusive development for the over 55s. It provides 326 new two and three bedroom homes, complemented by the creation of a vibrant village centre with restaurant, café bar, post office and village shop, as well as a new fitness suite with swimming pool, gym and sauna.

On-demand care services are available alongside the wide range of leisure facilities in order to ensure residents can continue to live independently with access to personal and domestic care. The care services available at Denham Garden Village include an on-site GP surgery, 24-hour response team and a dedicated care team for home visits and help with domestic tasks such as shopping, ironing and gardening. Each of the packages can be bought by the residents as and when they need.
