Milton Keynes development wins three new home awards

The 145-home George Wimpey South Midlands development picked up a Gold Award in the Green Homes category of the HotProperty New Homes Awards, and a Platinum Award in the Design and Innovation category.
Sister development Parklands, in nearby Woburn Sands, also collected a Gold award in the Community Development of the Year category
The prestigious awards, run by HotProperty magazine, recognise outstanding quality and design in new homes being built throughout the UK.
HotProperty judges were impressed by the way George Wimpey South Midlands has invested in the ‘EcoHat’, a new generation of chimney installed in all homes at Oxley Woods, which filters fresh air coming in to the building and reuses hot air circulating through the stack – complemented by solar energy – to optimise energy consumption.
With the EcoHat, homes achieve at least a 40 per cent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared with a conventional new house of a similar size.
Oxley Woods has already helped George Wimpey and architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners take the title of Innovative Housebuilder of the Year at the Housebuilding Innovation Awards, and Property Developer of the Year as named by Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire Chamber of Commerce.
Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director for George Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We’re delighted Oxley Woods is continuing its prize-winning streak, which started when we won the Government’s national design competition to build the homes at Milton Keynes in the first place.
“The pioneering, high-quality design and sustainable benefits at Oxley Woods are proving an incredibly popular formula, both with property-expert judges and with local home-buyers.”
The Parklands development in Woburn Sands scooped a Gold award with thanks to the positive effect George Wimpey has had on the neighbouring community.
This included donating £500 towards a new roof for the swimming pool at Swallowfield Lower School in Woburn Sands, £500 for a new fence at Swallowbrook After-school Club as well as the whole company raising over £50,000 for Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice’s work in the local area.
George Wimpey South Midlands takes great pride in its community involvement, both in creating positive, sustainable developments as well as contributing actively to the lives of those living in the surrounding areas, and none more so than Parklands.
Prices at Parklands currently start from £147,500 whilst customers can choose from a range of properties at Oxley Woods with prices starting at £229,995.
