Homes that can save money and the environment

30th June 2008 Print
Homes that can save money and the environment George Wimpey North Thames is unveiling a new approach to housebuilding at its Campbell Square development in Milton Keynes. The leading developer is incorporating extensive eco-friendly features in homes to promote sustainability and support the environment.

The top two floors of properties in each block will benefit from water heating systems powered by solar panels generating hot water. The systems have been designed to dramatically reduce carbon dioxide emissions, lowering energy bills for owners.

George Wimpey is also promoting home working - and thereby reducing the need for commuting - by providing two double sockets and a double phone point in the most appropriate room of each property.

Homes also come with energy efficient white goods, low energy white downlighters, plus insulation which is beyond current building regulations.

Tony Woodman, George Wimpey North Thames' Sales and Marketing Director, comments: "Environmental and social sustainability is fundamental to developing thriving communities with a long term future for their residents.

"By providing residents with home working spaces we are also offering the opportunity to eliminate the need for commuting to enhance their work/life balance, and with a free bike being given to the house purchase, we hope it will reduce reliance on cars.

"We will also be contributing towards community facilities and the local public transport system to enhance the local area further.

"Meanwhile, each home achieves the maximum EcoHomes rating providing many benefits for owners, including reduced energy bills, and an Energy Performance Certificate that could be a key selling point in the new Home Information Pack should they wish to move again in the future."

The range of one and two-bedroom apartments at Campbell Square is just a stones throw from the Milton Keynes shopping centre, Xscape leisure dome and the theatre district, yet surrounded by acres of woodlands, gardens and open countryside. Some plots will have terraces/balconies offering views across Campbell Park and the surrounding area.

Just one example of the homes available features a spacious living/dining room, a kitchen with built-in units, oven, hob and hood, two bedrooms, a family bathroom, a private interior hallway and built-in storage cupboards.

For more information on properties and incentives available, including the Government's First-Time Buyer Initiative on selected plots, visit the Sales Centre, located at Columbia Place, off Avebury Boulevard, Milton Keynes and open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm and Mondays from 10am until 2pm.
