Bellway rebuilds 18th century villa

4th July 2008 Print
A three storey villa on Watling Street in Fenny Stratford, Milton Keynes has been brought back to life by Bellway as part of Aqua, a new homes development on the site of a former printworks.

The villa was one of a group of buildings constructed alongside the pre-canal alignment of Watling Street at sometime during the 18th century. Over time the Villa’s usage changed from residential to commercial after which it fell into a state of disrepair in the 1990’s.

Bellway has rebuilt the villa to reflect the original building, all of which is part of the redevelopment of the brownfield site. The villa is now home to two bedroom apartments, two of which are currently the marketing suite and show apartment for Aqua.

Aqua is a development of one- and two- three bedroom apartments situated on the south side of Milton Keynes in the area of Fenny Stratford. As the name suggests, the development is adjacent to the Grand Union Canal and bordered on the other side by the River Ouzel with water meadows beyond.

On the edge of Milton Keynes, Fenny Stratford has a selection of shops and a variety of eateries and bars as well as its own cafe and delicatessen. There is a modern retail park nearby which includes a large supermarket.

Milton Keynes city centre is just over 3 miles which offers everything required for modern day life including high street retailers, restaurants, good schools and leisure facilities. There are theatres, cinemas, the snow dome and the home ground for the MK Don’s. Being almost equidistant from London, Birmingham, Leicester Oxford and Cambridge, makes Milton Keynes the ideal location for commuters.

Local transport links are very good. At just half a mile from Aqua is the A5 while the M1 is 4 miles from the development. Nearby Bletchley main line station offers fast and frequent service to London in around 40-45 minutes.
