New home, low mortgage in Milton Keynes

First-time buyers are being given a helping hand to find a brand new home at George Wimpey's Campbell Square development in Milton Keynes. The leading housebuilder is offering a range of apartments through the Government's ‘HomeBuy' low-cost home ownership drive, which enables aspiring first-time buyers who cannot afford to buy a home outright to own an apartment with a mortgage for just 50% of the purchase price.

Through the scheme, the Government contributes up to half of the purchase price through a loan that is interest-free for the first three years. A low-interest rate of up to 3% is then charged on the amount borrowed and during the loan period the Government has a second charge on the property which gives it an entitlement to a future share of the sale proceeds.

With only a limited number of apartments qualifying for the initiative, first-time buyers will have to hurry along to Campbell Square to apply. Under this scheme one-bedroom apartments are currently available at a purchase price starting at £69,975, and two-bedroom designs from £84,975.

Each stylish home comprises a living/dining room, a modern open-plan kitchen with built-in units, oven, hob and hood, a bathroom and one or two bedrooms off a private interior hallway.

Apartments also achieve the maximum EcoHomes rating to reduce energy bills for owners, benefit from access to communal gardens and have allocated parking.

Campbell Square is just a five-minute walk from thecentre:mk shopping centre, Xscape leisure dome and the Theatre District, yet surrounded by acres of woodlands, formal gardens and open countryside. Commuters will appreciate that the M1 is less than three miles from the development and that Milton Keynes Station is just two miles away.

With its vibrant, modern centre, beautiful countryside, excellent road system and Euston just 40 minutes away by rail, it's little wonder The Sunday Times has just named Milton Keynes the fourth best place in Britain to buy property.
