New homes highly anticipated in popular Downley Village

Downley Park, a much-anticipated new development of houses in Downley village, High Wycombe, will shortly be released for sale by Barratt Thames Valley.

The development will be open for viewing on Saturday 18th October when a showhouse will be opened. Downley is a highly sought-after village and Barratt is recommending that prospective homebuyers should get in touch soon to register their interest.

Building work has already begun on the 45 private two, three and four-bedroom terraced and detached family houses. The traditionally designed two-storey homes will be sited amidst beautifully landscaped grounds, which will also include a new village green for the local community. Barratt anticipates that the first homes will be ready for occupation in early 2009.

Downley Park is located on the original site of Downley School, which relocated in 2002 to nearby Faulkner Way. One of the original Victorian school buildings remains and is now a community centre; Barratt will be providing a new entrance and extra parking for the centre.

The excellent local schools are a major draw to the area. Downley School, which ranks amongst the top five per cent of primary schools in the country, is just a few minutes' walk away. Within two miles is the Royal Grammar in High Wycombe for boys, and Wycombe Abbey, one of the UK's top independent girls' schools.

Commuting is very easy with High Wycombe station, less than two miles away, offering regular services into London in around 45 minutes. Alternatively, for direct access to the underground system, Amersham station, on the Metropolitan Line, is within seven miles. London Heathrow Airport is approximately 18 miles away.

Prices are expected to start in the region of £200,000 for a two-bedroom home, ranging up to £475,000 for a large four-bedroom detached house.
