Affordable living in Milton Keynes

10th November 2008 Print
Affordable living in Milton Keynes It's been quite a year for one Northamptonshire couple who set their sights on moving house well in time for their five year old daughter to start full time school. Julie Stones, a nurse in the special care unit at Milton Keynes Hospital, and Andrew Dudman, a chauffeur for Volkswagen UK, had found the perfect location for their new home, David Wilson Homes' Oxley Village development in Milton Keynes.

Julie explains: "We were living in the village of Weedon, just outside Towcester which is about half an hour from where we work. With Megan due to start school, we needed to make sure we could manage the school run so we decided to move much nearer to where we work."

The couple also needed to find the right school for Megan to give her the best start in school life.

"Oxley Village is in an excellent area for schools and the one she attends is brand new, with excellent facilities and just 40 pupils! It can take up to 400 but we are making the best of these ‘early days' ", adds Andrew.

As timing was crucial to the success of the move, the couple were delighted to discover that they could take advantage of David Wilson Homes' Part Exchange scheme which meant that they didn't have to sell their home before moving into their Rossett home at Oxley Village.

Jackie Day, sales director for David Wilson Homes South Midlands, comments: "Our fantastic Part Exchange scheme really helps purchasers shorten the process of moving home and overcome those uncertainties such as chains that break, living in rented accommodation or in extreme cases not able to move into their dream home at all."

Moving to Oxley Village has also meant that the family can enjoy a larger home. They moved from a three bedroom semi detached house to one of the development's spacious four bedroom Rossett homes.

The ground floor of the Rossett provides spacious living room accommodation and a well-designed fitted kitchen complete with dining area. French doors open onto the garden taking full advantage of the attractive landscaping and views.

The home also benefits from clever use of space throughout the upper floor, with the master bedroom extending to more than 16 feet and featuring an en-suite. Three further bedrooms plus a family bathroom peel off from the landing, all providing good size family accommodation.

Oxley Village is bucking the current messages of economic gloom with 70 per cent of the development now sold. Sales advisor Lynn Carrington is not surprised: "Apart from the quality and design of these houses, the secret of success here is the good schools we have in the area. This is one of the first questions we are asked and it is great to be able to tell them the good news. We are also near to all the other amenities that people are looking for such as shops and public transport. It really is a case of location being the key".

Something for everyone in Milton Keynes

Meanwhile, David Wilson Homes' Reflections development in Broughton, Milton Keynes is also proving a perfect location for prospective housebuyers, with a stunning selection of four and five bedroom homes to suit many different lifestyles.

Jackie Day comments: "The homes at Reflections have been carefully designed around the practical priorities of the people that will be living there. This customer-centric approach has been at the heart of our success for many years and I am sure this is the reason for the great reaction we have had so far."

Houses currently available at the development include the four bedroom Voysey home of the week (plot 20). Recently reduced from £389,995 to £349,995, the Voysey is an affordable family home which combines stylish design with practical living.

On the ground floor prospective purchasers will find a spacious kitchen/breakfast area which offers a bright and welcoming space for everyday living and more informal dining, whilst the separate dining room presents an ideal accompanying room for more formal entertaining and special occasions.

The large lounge area offers a warm and cosy environment to settle down in after a hard day at work and a generously sized study offers purchasers ultimate flexibility in terms of living space, as it can be converted into a gym, playroom, library, or fifth bedroom depending on individual family needs.

Meanwhile, the clever layout of the Voysey continues upstairs with four double bedrooms and family bathroom, whilst the master bedroom has a stylish en-suite, a perfect retreat from life's busy schedule.

Additionally, the spacious hall area, separate utility room, downstairs cloakroom and single garage ensures that purchasers have practical solutions to household necessities, whilst David Wilson Homes removes further stress from the moving process by scraping Stamp Duty fees on the property. As an added bonus the Voysey comes complete with carpets, curtains and outside landscaping, making this home of the week ready for a family to move in and make it their perfect home.

Situated close to local amenities, the development is a short distance from Milton Keynes city centre which offers a wide range of shopping, sporting facilities and entertainment.

Reflections is also just a 45 minute commute to London Euston, making it ideal for any city workers looking for a contemporary, family sized home, outside of the hustle and bustle of the city.
