New community makes its mark in Milton Keynes

19th January 2009 Print
New community makes its mark in Milton Keynes After living in the same three bedroom, terraced house for 38 years, Mel and Heather Henderson were keen to downsize from their Wolverton home and couldn't believe their luck when David Wilson Homes South Midlands launched The Sidings development on the site where Mel had worked for 35 years and Heather for 15 years.

Mel explains: "We have always loved the local area, but after I retired we were keen to downsize our home. We had never bought new before but wanted a house that wouldn't require a lot of maintenance or decorating so a new home seemed like the best option as we could move in straight away without the hassles that moving usually brings.

"When we found out that David Wilson was building a new development on the site of the old McCorquodale printers, we couldn't believe our luck as that is where my wife and I first met. We thought it was a great place for a housing development and immediately registered our interest."

Spacious three bedroom living

The Hendersons chose the three bedroom Strathmore home because of its practical layout and were surprised at how spacious their new home could be, enabling them to enjoy socializing dogs which they look after for twelve months before returning them to dogs for the disabled for further training.

Mel continues: "We had always thought of new homes as being quite small but the Strathmore home is well planned with a fantastic open plan kitchen and dining area and a separate living room which is perfect for our needs. There is plenty of space to train the dogs without them getting under our feet and we are within easy reach of the A5 and the M1, which enables us to travel around the region easily to visit individuals, local groups and shopping centres. It was exactly what we were looking for."

The Strathmore's open plan living area provides a bright and welcoming space for informal dining and entertaining friends, as well as offering easy access to the garden through the French doors creating the perfect opportunity for a spot of alfresco dining in the summer months. The ground floor also comprises a large lounge area at the front of the house, a downstairs cloakroom and an additional parking space.

The thoughtfully designed layout continues upstairs with a large master bedroom and accompanying en-suite, a large family bathroom and two further bedrooms, the third of which could be made into an office or hobby room depending on individual requirements.

In addition, some Strathmore designs come with a solar hot water panel, which allows residents to do their bit for the environment whilst reducing their heating bills.

First rate service

After registering their interest in the Strathmore home more than a year ago, Mel describes how David Wilson Homes helped them every step of the way to secure their new home as quickly as possible.

"The sales advisors on site have been absolutely first rate, and very professional. They've gone out of their way to keep us informed and have helped us to decide which house to choose as well as advising us on how to sell our old home.

"They have gone above and beyond our expectations and made us feel safe in the knowledge that they were acting in our best interests. They've become really good friends of ours and we still often pop into the sales office to say hello now we're settled into our new home."

Location

The Sidings is ideally situated close to a great range of local amenities including local shops, sports clubs and an outdoor swimming pool, whilst Milton Keynes is just a short distance away for more extensive facilities and entertainment. For residents looking for a slower pace of life the development is also within easy reach of the Grand Union canal and Great Ouse Park for relaxing walks amongst picturesque settings.

Mel explains: "Wolverton has always been a lovely area on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, and The Sidings has now filled the gap created when the printers closed down. It has brought in new families to the area and a renewed sense of community for everyone. We couldn't feel more at home in Wolverton than at The Sidings."

Located within walking distance of Wolverton train station, The Sidings is also a perfect location for commuters with direct lines into Milton Keynes, London and Northampton.

For further information on the range of homes available at The Sidings visit the sales centre, which is open Thursday to Monday between 11:00am and 6:00pm, or log on to Dwh.co.uk.
