Eco-homes for first time-buyers

27th April 2009 Print
Eco-homes for first time-buyers First-time buyers can purchase a new three-bedroom detached ‘eco home’ from just £105,000* using the Government’s First-Time Buyer Initiative at George Wimpey’s Oxley Woods development in Milton Keynes.

The HomeBuy offer aims to help people get on the first rung of the property ladder by reducing their mortgage by up to 50%, but they still own 100% of the property. The Government contribution is interest-free for three years and then capped at a 3% interest rate.

Offering outstanding value for money, the modern three-bedroom ‘Type C’ home is available from only £105,000* and offers a wealth of flexible living space, including a wonderful open plan kitchen/dining and living room and a handy utility room.

Upstairs, the landing leads to two generously proportioned bedrooms, a study/third bedroom and a main bathroom, while a roof light above the stairway and large windows provide plenty of natural light throughout the home.

Each property at Oxley Woods is topped with a unique carbon emission busting ‘EcoHat’ chimney, which gathers warm air from the service zones, tops it up with solar energy, and filters it back through the living areas as warm air ventilation.

Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director for George Wimpey South Midlands, says: “The strong environmental credentials and unique design of homes at Oxley Woods are just what many first-time buyers are looking for – and now, using the Government First-Time Buyer Initiative, more young people can afford to purchase their dream home.

“The energy savings these outstanding homes offer is an added bonus to the finances of young home-owners – high levels of insulation and the exclusive EcoHat ventilation system mean that they can save money on their energy bills compared with conventional-build homes. These properties also satisfy the 16 standards of Lifetime Homes and can be adapted easily to suit young couples and families, through to retirement.”
