Downley Park bucks the trend

13th May 2009 Print
Downley Park bucks the trend The latest Halifax House Price Index reports a decline in the average UK house price of 1.7 per cent in April and forecasts further price declines are likely. However, Barratt Homes can report there are new homes developments that are bucking this trend, where prices will actually be increasing.

One such development is Downley Park, a development of 64 new homes in Downley, High Wycombe.

Glyn Hopping, managing director at Barratt North London, says: “Downley Park is a very successful development with over 80 per cent of the homes now sold. We have kept prices deliberately low due to market conditions but we cannot keep them this low indefinitely.

“This is a highly attractive development in a prime location and there is no shortage of interest from buyers. We have a handful of homes to sell by the end of June, then after June prices on the final phase of homes will go up by around 10 per cent, in line with our projections for the development.

“We are currently offering some excellent deals and I would recommend anyone interested to come and see us soon while prices are low.”

Part Exchange has proved very popular at Downley Park, with seven houses sold under the scheme in the last two months. The housebuilder will buy your old house so don’t have to find a buyer, there are no chains to worry about, no HIPs to organise, no estate agent’s fees or last minute haggling over price. You can stay in your old property until your new one is ready. The whole process is easy, allowing you to get on with your life in your brand new home.

Downley Park, located on the former site of Downley School, is just a few minutes’ walk from the school’s current address in Faulkner Way and can be accessed from both School Close and Turner’s Field. The development offers traditional two, three and four-bedroom terraced and detached family houses set in beautifully landscaped grounds.

One of the former school buildings, a Victorian property built in the 1870s, still remains on the site and serves as a community centre. The housebuilder will be providing a new entrance and additional parking for the community centre; it will also create a village green on the site with play area, which will be open to the public.

Prices start from £316,000 for a three-bedroom house and £445,000 for a four-bedroom house.
