Badger Holdings raise money for Shooting Star Children's Hospice It goes without saying that agents have had things tough recently but, even in the current climate, staff throughout the Badgers group, parent company to Townends & Regents Estate Agents and dot financial services, have been giving their time, commitment and hard cash to help raise £31,401 so far this year for The Shooting Star Children's Hospice.

As a company, Badger Holdings have sponsored The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, based in Hampton Hill, Middlesex, for a number of years. The Human Resources department organise regular events to help raise funds for the charity and, for 2008, they set a target of £24,000 to raise.

The most recent event was the massive Three Peaks Challenge, raising £11,171, where a team of six volunteers climbed the three highest mountains in Great Britain in just two nights and one day. It was led by the Chief Executive, Tony Addinall, who alone raised £5,840, and who has also, for the charity last year, cycled from Paris to London.

"We have been working with Badger Holdings for many years and really appreciate their enthusiastic support. This year in particular, the staff have really thrown themselves into their fundraising!" said Karen Peffer, Challenge Events Fundraiser, at The Shooting Star Children's Hospice. "To have raised more than £30,000 so far is just fantastic and will make a big difference to the children and their families, who we help to care for."

Janet Tully, Head of Human Resources at Badger Holdings and ambassador for The Shooting Star Children's Hospice, comments: "We have raised a staggering amount so far, which is a remarkable achievement and one we are very proud of. I am always touched at how willing our employees are to do their bit and how generous they are with their sponsorship to each other. We are constantly looking at new ways of continuing to help raise money and we do have forthcoming events for the year including, the Great South Run, Royal Parks ½ marathon, the Yellow Umbrella day, which is a 10k run or 5k walk, and also a number of social evenings, so we have no doubt that we will exceed our target by a mile."

Other events this year, which have all contributed to the fantastic amount to date, have included staff jumping out of a plane in a tandem skydive, a salsa night, quiz night, a five a side football match, and also dress down days at Head Office and the monthly lottery.
