Building plot is a rare opportunity

5th February 2007 Print
The Beeches building plot The company, based at Old Town, Swindon, is marketing a building plot with planning permission for four houses adjacent to a property called The Beeches, at 364, Marlborough Road. The guide price is £1.3 million and informal tenders are being sought which must be submitted by noon on March 16.

“Plots like this with wonderful views to the rear are more often found in villages than in prime town locations,” says Phil Holland, of Dreweatt Neate.

“I can’t recall seeing anything similar in Swindon for a long time and this is a very exciting sale. As soon as we placed a for sale board on the site we received a dozen enquiries on the first day and I’m sure this interest will grow substantially before the tender deadline arrives."

Detailed planning permission has already been granted by Swindon Borough Council for four large detached houses with double garages. These will be of a type to blend in with the other prestige properties in this part of Marlborough Road.

The site backs onto an arboretum which adjoins Coate Water Country Park and Broome Manor Golf Course. It’s just over a mile from Old Town, which has a range of shops, supermarket, restaurants, and public houses while Swindon town centre is about three miles away. The M4 at Junction 15 is also about three miles in the other direction.”
