“Escape to the Country” couple discover dream home in Calne

Living in Stoke Bishop, the couple were so desperate to find a perfect rural property that they had even enlisted the help of the BBC, but after trawling Wiltshire in search of their dream home, the programme failed to find what they were looking for.

However, a sleepless night wondering if the perfect home really existed, turned the Adams’ fortunes around when Mike stumbled across the Persimmon Homes website.

“We had never even considered buying a new build home and it was in genuine desperation that I decided late one evening to have a look online,” commented Mike. “Persimmon Homes’ website appeared immediately and as soon as I saw what they were offering I knew our search was over.”

Mike and Liz hot footed it to Persimmon’s The Wharf development in Stroud, where they loved the homes but concluded they still wanted to move to Wiltshire. Undeterred, they were referred to Persimmon’s developments in Corsham and Calne and it was at Mayfield in Calne that they finally found the home they had spent so long searching for:

“As soon as we stepped into the Blenheim show home at Mayfield we knew this was the property for us,” added Mike. “We completely fell in love with everything about it from the interior design to the very large lounge and feeling of spaciousness in every room. We put a deposit down immediately on the same house and haven’t looked back since.”

The Adams moved into their new home in November and have been so impressed with both the property and the location, that they are currently in the process of buying a second property for investment. The couple have chosen a Fairford coach house at Persimmon’s neighbouring development, Walnut Grove in Calne which they hope will bring a good rental return:

“The Fairford is a really great rental property, offering plenty of living space in a very contemporary home,” continued Mike. “We are complete converts to the benefits which new homes offer from modern fixtures and fittings to energy efficiency and believe this will definitely be an advantage to both ourselves and our future tenants. I strongly believe Calne is the best investment area in Wiltshire as it offers a fantastic rural lifestyle whilst also being just 20 minutes away from the motorway and am confident it will prove a profitable investment for us.”

Persimmon Homes currently has a range of homes available at its popular Lansdowne Park community in Calne with properties currently available at four exciting developments; Amberley Place, Greenacres, Mayfield and Walnut Grove. Prices currently start from £117,995 for a two bedroom apartment at Walnut Grove.

Leisure-wise there is plenty to keep residents busy in Calne from the White Horse Leisure Centre and six golf courses, to the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding Wiltshire countryside. Ideal for families, the town has a fine choice of primary and secondary schools and excellent commuter links. It is within easy reach of the A4 and Junction 17 of the M4, and has fast rail connections via Chippenham and Swindon to London and Bristol.
