Take a peak at Thames-side life

Part of the country home experience for many people involves the ownership of additional land and the last remaining house at the Ettone Barns development in the village comes with a 1.25 acre paddock.
Developer Bach Homes launched Ettone Barns little more than two months ago, revealing guide prices for the four properties of between £500,000 and £1.1 million. But now just one house is still available.
As well as its securely fenced paddock with an access track, and water and electricity connections for those who may want to establish stabling with the minimum disruption, the property also enjoys fishing rights on a stretch of the Thames as the river makes its way from its nearby Cotswolds source towards the heart of the capital.
Helene Parker-Joel, new homes manager of selling agents Perry Bishop & Chambers, was convinced from the outset that these homes would have massive appeal and sure enough three went very quickly, the latest at a guide price of £1.1 million.
There’s no need for that budget for the remaining house, though, as its guide is £895,000. Helene is convinced that the open house event on Saturday July 7 from 10am – 4pm will quickly convince viewers what outstanding value that is, too.
The house has five bedrooms, three of them en-suite, and there’s a master bedroom on its own on the second floor that has a dressing area plus access to a large area of storage.
Contemporary thoughts have influenced the layout of the ground floor, which does not have the formal room divisions of the upper two floors. Even so, it encompasses defined kitchen, breakfast, dining, living, and study areas. Large glassed openings at the rear of the house enable it to blend into the garden on warm summer days and still flood with light in the cooler weather.
“The houses on the Ettone Barns bring a fascinating blend of styles. The ground floor layout is thoroughly modern in the way the living spaces move from one purpose to another though on the upper floors there is more traditional division,” explained Helene.
“The name Ettone Barns is drawn from a medieval word that means farm by the river, perfectly summing up how Bach Homes has created rural-style buildings on this stunning site.”
