Three-storey homes offer families flexibility

Three-storey homes offer families flexibility A flexible three-storey home offered one family all the space they needed without a sky high price tag. Following a separation, mum-of-three Shirley Venton and her children, Laura, 15, Scott, 13, and Ollie, eight, moved into a home laid out over three floors at Redrow’s Abbey Manor development in Priory Vale, Swindon.

Shirley, a financial services sales quality support assessor, said: “Having lived in a four-bedroom home we didn’t want to move somewhere smaller and lose all the space we were used to.

“I loved the layout of the house. The children have all still got their own bedroom and we’ve got a great family room as well so they can have their friends round.”

The town houses at Abbey Manor are inspired by Georgian architecture and surrounded by a veil of hedgerows but buyers will have to be quick as there is only one left at the development

Shirley, 39, opted for a Teign-style home, which has now sold out, but the four-bedroom Bradgate-style house is still available and offers all of the benefits of life spread out over three floors.

Sandra Hughes, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South West) said: “With just one property still available, buyers will have to move swiftly if they would like to buy a home at Abbey Manor. However, we do still have a range of elegant three-storey homes available at other developments in the area, including Fenway Park in Chippenham, and Cowbridge Mill, Malmesbury.

“The possibilities in a three-storey home really are endless. Downsizers can benefit from rooms dedicated to guest bedrooms, a home gym or even a games room, while families like Shirley’s can really spread out in their own space.

“It gives home owners the option to be creative and flexible with their internal layout. Those who have bought a three-storey home from Redrow have used their extra floor space in various ways. Many have used the opportunity to give teenagers and older children their own space and independence, which can be difficult to do in the traditional two-storey home. And people who work from home have also benefited, as a home office can be tucked away on the top floor, separating ‘home’ and ‘work’ lives.”

The Bradgate at Abbey Manor, with a lounge, separate dining room, open plan kitchen/family room, utility room, en-suite to master bedroom, fitted wardrobes and detached single garage, is currently priced from £245,000.

A range of three-storey homes will soon be available at Cowbridge Mill, Malmesbury, where there is currently a selection of two-bedroom apartments for sale from £182,995.

A small number of properties are still available at Fenway Park, in Chippenham, including the three-storey Teign and Ribble design homes.
