House-builder sponsors iron woman Local house builder Persimmon Homes has come to the rescue of iron woman, Rachel Bown after stepping forward to sponsor her participation in next month’s Iron Man World Championships in Florida.

Rachel, a teacher at Larkrise Special School in Trowbridge, qualified earlier this year for the Iron Man World Championships after qualifying at a triathlon in Exmoor. Held at Clear Water in Florida, the gruelling Iron Man event will see Rachel compete against athletes from across the world to complete the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile cycle and 13.1 mile run in record time.

Local developer, Persimmon Homes which is currently building a range of properties in Trowbridge, stepped forward to support Rachel after seeing her appeal for sponsorship:

“Competing in triathlons is great fun and hugely rewarding, however seeking funding to compete in far flung events such as the Iron Man can be difficult,” commented Rachel. “I visited Persimmon’s Harvest Rise development when I first began training for the Iron Man and I was thrilled when the sales adviser from the development saw my appeal for sponsorship and telephoned me offering to donate £500. I’m currently training up to ten times a week for the event and with friends, family and Persimmon Homes all behind me, I am confident I have the strength to succeed.”

Tracey Gallacher, field sales manager for Persimmon Homes Wessex added: “Reaching the World Championships is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted to be able to provide Rachel with the financial support she needs in order to compete. Rachel is clearly extremely committed to her sport and we wish her all the best for the Championship.”

House hunters in Trowbridge are currently spoilt for choice with four Persimmon developments in this popular Wiltshire town. Forming part of the ongoing regeneration of the Staverton Marina in Trowbridge are Lockside and Meadowlands, two spectacular developments which together offer a range of two, three and four bedroom homes.

Persimmon’s other Trowbridge developments, Harvest Rise and Silvermere offer purchasers the opportunity to take advantage of the best in town and country living, being located within easy reach of Trowbridge’s historic centre and equally just minutes from breathtaking Wiltshire countryside. Properties available include a choice of two and three bedroom properties, ideal for first time buyer and young families looking for that perfect semi rural location.
