Marlborough site manager wins coveted award Marlborough site manager for Crest Nicholson, Barry McGrath has been awarded the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award – one of the most prestigious accolades in the house-building industry which recognises commitment and excellence in the sector.

Barry, who is currently site manager at Crest Nicholson’s St John’s Park development in Marlborough and is currently overseeing the build of 174 properties on the site, has been hand-picked to receive this award from more than 18,000 contenders across the UK. To win, they were assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process as well as leadership and organisational skills. This is the second time Barry has received this award – he also received it last year for his work on the Braydon Mead development in Swindon.

Now in its 29th year, NHBC's ‘Pride in the Job’ is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes. Altogether 400 Quality Award winners were selected as first round winners, Barry now goes through to the next heat to try for a ‘Seal of Excellence’ Award in the Autumn where there will be only 130 lucky winners. The ‘Pride in the Job’ campaign reaches its climax with the announcement of the four overall UK Supreme Award winners at a Gala Awards ceremony in January 2010.

Barry said: “It was a great surprise to find out I had won this award again this year as I also received it in 2008. Winning is a boost to the work I do for Crest Nicholson and is certainly helped by having a great team behind me who all put in the effort needed to create such top-quality homes in Marlborough.”

David Huggett, Managing Director of Crest Nicholson (South West) Ltd. commented on the award win: “We are thrilled that Barry has won the Quality Award; it demonstrates the commitment he and the team he works with have to delivering extremely high standards, both on site and in the homes we build.

“Three Crest Nicholson South West site managers have received the Quality Award this year. We are very proud of their achievements and wish them the best of luck in the next stages.”

The new development is being built on the site of St John’s School and Community College, as the school is currently building a new state-of-the-art facility for its 1,500 pupils on the South side of Marlborough. St John’s Park will offer homebuyers a great selection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes in this sought-after area.

Prices at St John’s Park currently start from £204,950 for a three bedroom Hereford home and range to £334,950 for the four bedroom Melbourne.
