New Oldham homes launch at former Cotton Mill

17th May 2007 Print
Chadderton home buyers will soon be spoilt for choice, as Redrow brings its award-winning portfolio of new homes to the area this week (18th May).

Spinners Mews, located off Fields New Road, in Chadderton near Oldham, will eventually offer 120 new homes on a five acre plot of land – formerly occupied by the cotton Gem Mill.

There will a range of housing to suit the needs of all buyers, including one, two-bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four-bedroom homes – in semi, mews and three-storey designs.

Already an established name across the North West, Redrow is planning a modern, contemporary scheme, as sales director Patsy Aicken explains.

“The homes at Spinners Mews are going to be perfect for those who love being near the buzz of Manchester, but want to lead a quieter home life away from the city centre. We’ve kept this in mind when designing the properties, and have come up with something a little different with a stylish twist.”

Timber boarding, render and grey window details are all being used in exterior elevations to create a fresh look, and a central area of public space will be a focal point for the new community. An equipped play area, as well as a multi-use games area suitable for football and basketball, will be included.

Patsy says: “Redrow has a proven track record in Greater Manchester – it’s somewhat of an old haunt for us - and it’s great to be continuing our investment in the area. The property range we’re bringing to Spinners Mews will suit people on all rungs of the ladder – from first timers keen to have a place of their own, to growing families looking for more space or downsizers who want an easy-to-maintain new property.

“This variety will create a balanced and vibrant new neighbourhood, and we’re looking forward to seeing it grow.”

Would-be buyers at Spinners Mews are also guaranteed knowledgeable service, as sales consultant Deborah Michaels has been born and bred in the area. She says: “I’ve lived in Chadderton all my life and I’m really looking forward to helping people move into their dream new home in such a great area.”

The company, as part of planning requirements, is also contributing £100,000 into the local area, which will go toward improving employment opportunities in the borough. Redrow is also contributing £5,000 to improving a footpath link on Wem Street.

Spinners Mews benefits from a prime position, just two miles away from Oldham town centre or six miles from cosmopolitan Manchester – both offering a wealth of amenities, shopping and nightlife. Residents can take advantage of the motorway network, with both the M62 and M60 nearby, giving easy access to Manchester, as well as Leeds, Liverpool and beyond – ideal for commuters and city hoppers alike.

Frequent rail services from Oldham run into Manchester Victoria station in around 20 minutes, and Manchester Airport is just under 20 miles away.
