First time buyer finds a way on the property ladder

12th June 2007 Print
Amanda When nursery nurse and student Amanda Newsham visited Woodland Park in Darwen, she didn’t expect to fall in love. “I really didn’t think I would be buying a house. I just went for a nosey and to see what it was like. I didn’t think I would be able to afford a house at all.”

But she says of first seeing the Kitchener house “I fell in love. As soon as I saw the kitchen: it was so modern, clean, crisp and just my style”.

And this love was exclusive “I didn’t even look in any of the other houses”.

Before visiting Woodland Park, Amanda had struggled to get on the property ladder “It’s really hard, especially if you are a single parent like me. Prices are going up and up. It’s really hard to afford that first step and get out of your parents’ house.”

She had previously viewed some local terrace houses but had not been able to afford them. And she also wanted to buy a new house with a garden for her daughter to play in: “With a job, a child and a part-time course, I don’t have time for the decorating”.

So when she saw the spacious 3-bedroom Kitchener house, with its ample garden and great living space, she knew she had found the home of her dreams – but was sure it would remain a dream.

It was when Miller Homes introduced a great incentive offer that her dream could be realised. First they put together a deal that included paying the 5% deposit for Amanda. “That was definitely important and helped out in terms of getting the mortgage” she says.

With the help of an Independent Financial Advisor [IFA] all the figures started to make sense. The IFA then made a personal visit and explained how it would work out to both me and my parents. It was affordable – it was possible, she could have it all! “A good financial advisor makes a real difference” Amanda said.

“With the incentive they gave me and the right mortgage, my dream home was affordable and living in it became a reality”.

Woodlands Park on Anyon Street, close to Darwen town centre has new apartments priced from £95,960 and new 3 bed family homes from £152,057. New incentives available include 105% part exchange or have your mortgage and utility bills paid until 2009.
