Lucky win for Leigh couple

William and Barbara Pilkington, who’ve bought a property at Redrow’s Lawton Gardens development, off Holden Road, filled in a questionnaire sent to them by Redrow Homes earlier this year that entered them into a prize draw to win the gift vouchers.
William says: “It was a real surprise to find out we’d won, to be honest I’d forgotten all about it. I’m not sure what we’ll spend the money on – but I’m sure it will be put to good use.”
The survey, sent to 1,000 of Redrow’s customers, was commissioned to get an insight into what buyers think about three-storey living. Buyers living in both two and three-storey homes were asked to comment and the answers provided have thrown up some interesting results.
The responses showed that almost two thirds of three-storey converts would rather keep their extra floor than move into a larger two-storey home, with most buyers using the extra space for bedrooms. However, customers also highlighted that having three floors of living space gives great scope for being creative with internal layouts, and is useful for giving over sections of their home to a home office, gym or as private space for older children.
Simon Bennett, group marketing director for Redrow, says: “Whilst three-storey living was popular back in Victorian times, living spread over three floors today is a contemporary solution to modern day life, and we’ve found that buyers at all stages of the property buying ladder appreciate its appeal – from young families right through to ‘empty nesters’.”
Although William and Barbara purchased a two-storey Langdale home, they can see the advantages of owning a taller property. William says: “We haven’t considered it for ourselves, but for those who are starting out, a three-storey home is a great idea.”
Since moving in last year William, now retired, has been putting his green fingers to use: “I spent a fair bit of last year landscaping our large back garden and quite a few of our neighbours have been round to have a look for some tips! We’re really pleased with our new home, we’re not overlooked and the development itself is in a good location.”
Lawton Gardens has been appealing to buyers who appreciate its tempting mix of property from one-bedroom apartments right up to four-bedroom detached homes, in a central North West location – so much so, that only three homes now remain.
And still available is the four-bedroom Langdale, as chosen by the Pilkingtons. Priced from just £199,995, this detached home boasts a large open plan living and dining area on the ground floor, along with cloakroom and a utility room off the kitchen at the rear of the home. Upstairs there are four spacious bedrooms including a master bedroom complete with an en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobes, as well as a large family bathroom. The property also benefits from an integral garage.
Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) says: “We’re delighted to be handing our prize to William and Barbara, and hope they have a great time spending their vouchers. And for those who fancy making a move to Lawton Gardens themselves, we have some fantastic incentives available on the final few homes – but contact us now because time is running out.”
Lawton Gardens is only a five-minute walk from Leigh town centre and all its amenities, including a host of shops and a large supermarket. Neighbouring towns of Bolton, Wigan and the city of Manchester are all nearby.
The A580 East Lancashire Road offers access to the M6, M61 and M62, while Manchester International Airport is only a half-hour drive from the development.
