Affordable chic making a debut in Euxton

Debut II properties at the popular Buckshaw Village With first time buyers in the UK now facing average house prices of £150,000, Redrow’s award winning Debut range has an even bigger role to play in helping would-be home owners onto the first rung of the ladder.

The Halifax First Time Buyer Annual Review 2007 says that average prices for first-time buyers have risen by a colossal 95% since 2001. The survey also revealed that in every region of the UK, for the first time, average first-time house prices were above £100,000.

Lucky homebuyers in Euxton, near Chorley, however, need not worry as Redrow’s Debut II development at Buckshaw Village is going strong. The collection of affordable, yet stylish properties has proved popular with young homebuyers in the area, with prices starting from just £76,995.

Lesley Myers, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “It has become increasingly difficult for first-time buyers to purchase homes. Rising interest rates and house prices have made it nigh on impossible for a great many people – and this is something that Redrow has tackled with its Debut range.

“Debut offers stylish homes and a quality living environment but without the big price tag – it’s particularly, though not exclusively, aimed at those taking their first steps on the property ladder.”

The initial outlay is reduced further if purchasers choose to defer 10% of the initial purchase price for up to 10 years. This interest free fixed sum can be paid back at any time within the 10 years, via occasional lump sums, monthly instalments or in full at any time.

Debut home owners also benefit from having a single fixed monthly service charge which covers the cost of water, electricity, gas and buildings insurance, as well as all external maintenance and window cleaning.

Lesley adds: “The Debut properties are built with practicality, affordability and quality in mind – but this doesn’t mean we have scrimped on the style. All of the Debut properties are really fresh and modern and designed to maximise the potential of every inch of space.

“Though not restricted solely to first time buyers, Debut homes can only be bought by owner occupiers and we have a legal framework in place to prevent buy-to-let investors from snapping them up. Again, this helps first time buyers by ensuring a supply of homes they can afford.”

Carefully landscaped communal grounds cared for by Redrow’s own management company help to create a sense of place.

The Debut II development forms part of Buckshaw Village – a mixed use, sustainable community that will incorporate residential properties as well leisure and retail facilities and more employment for the area. The Debut offering includes a mix of one and two-bedroom properties, priced from £76,995 to £101,995 respectively.

Among the styles available is the ‘Debut Four’– a modern two-storey, two-bedroom property which, unusually, has its double bedrooms and bathroom at entry level and a bright, spacious contemporary open-plan living area above. Open-plan living has become increasingly popular as ‘eating in’ has become the new ‘eating out’ with many people preferring the relaxed atmosphere of a combined living space, especially when entertaining. The ‘Debut Four’ also includes handy storage space and a single parking space.

Located directly between the M6 and M61 near Chorley, Buckshaw Village also features a range of more traditional homes for people at every stage of the property ladder. There’s also a business park and proposals for a district shopping centre, provision for a new railway station with park and ride facilities, a primary school, health centre and outdoor sports amenities.
