Bryant issues photo request for historic site

11th March 2008 Print
To mark the industrial heritage of its new Leyland site, The Oaks, Bryant Homes has issued a plea to local residents for any photography relating to the old Leyland & Birmingham Rubber Company, the factory which used to stand on the development’s Golden Hill Lane location.

The images received will be used to create displays for the planned show properties on site, depicting the location’s important local history.

Anthony Mansfield, regional sales and marketing director for Bryant Homes, commented: “The rubber factory, in its various guises, had been part of the local landscape for around one hundred and fifty years prior to its closure and demolition back in 2002. With the location now entering a new era and ultimately a new role within the community, we felt it would be fitting to pay tribute to this heritage.”

Bryant is looking for any images which depict the old factory and the people who worked there. Anyone wishing to submit photography should send items to: The Oaks Marketing Suite, 2 Parish Gardens, Off Golden Hill Lane, Leyland, Preston, Lancashire, PR25 3Uf. Alternatively photography can be dropped off with the sales team at the marketing suite, open seven days a week from 10am until 5.30pm.

Like the old rubber factory, The Oaks is set to become an integral part of the Leyland community, providing a variety of beautifully designed homes, including apartments, three bedroom terraced houses and three and four bedroom detached homes. Properties currently available start from just £174,950.

As well as featuring great homes at great prices, The Oaks also delivers when it comes to location. Leyland itself offers an extensive range of shops, eateries and bars, while nearby leisure facilities such as Worden Hall, Longton Brickcroft and Cuerden Valley Country Park mean even the keenest outdoor enthusiast will be spoilt for choice when it comes to possible activities, from walking and hiking to cycling and fishing.

Parents considering the development will be pleased to hear that schools in the area rank highly in the county league tables and include Balshaw’s Church of England High School, Runshaw College and Wellfield Business & Enterprise College.

The Oaks is also well positioned for commuters. Leyland is within minutes of the M65, M61 and M6, making Greater Manchester only half an hour away, while rail connections to the West Coast mainline give excellent access to Scotland, the Midlands and London.

For further information on The Oaks, call into the sales information centre off Golden Hill Lane. Alternatively, full details can be found at Bryant.co.uk.
