Corrie’s Ken opens ‘Secret Garden’ in Bolton

Visitors to Bloomfield, Markland Hill, Bolton last Saturday (Saturday, 31 May 2008) enjoyed glorious sunshine, fine wines and canapés, and meeting actor William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow in ITV’s Coronation Street. William opened the new showhomes and ‘Secret Garden’ at Beck Homes’ upmarket apartment development.

Visitors to Bloomfield were able to walk around the five showhomes and the beautiful landscaped gardens. On opening the champagne to signify the opening, William said: “The ‘Secret Garden’ is very well named. When you enter this exclusive development the private woodland walks are still not evident until you start to explore the grounds. One couple who came to meet William were so impressed they bought an apartment. Alan and Susan Mosley put their names down on one of the ground floor apartments, Susan said: “We were totally taken with the setting of the apartments and their general quality and specification. We only came along to meet ‘Ken’ and ended up buying a new home.”

Also present at the launch was Lyn Bolton, whose family owned the home that previously occupied the site. She said: “My family lived here for 30 years and although it is a little sad to see it gone, I am very pleased that Beck Homes has kept the faith with the style of the old building by using a similar design. I am also very impressed with the work they have put in to maintain the fabulous grounds.
